Excavation Slope Calculator

Professional safety engineering analysis for excavation slopes

⚠️ Warning: For excavations less than 20 ft (6.09 m)

Standards: OSHA 1926.652, Local safety regulations compliance required.

Safety Warning: This calculation is for educational purposes only. Always consult with qualified engineers and local regulations.

Excavation Slope Calculator

Excavation Safety: Proper slope angles prevent cave-ins and ensure worker safety. Different soil types require different slope ratios based on their stability characteristics.

Slope Angles by Soil Type
Rock: 90° | Type A: 53° | Type B: 45° | Type C: 34°

Soil Classifications

Stable Rock: Vertical excavation allowed (90° slope angle).
Type A Soil: Cohesive soils with unconfined compressive strength ≥ 1.5 tsf (144 kPa).
Type B Soil: Cohesive soil 0.5-1.5 tsf strength, granular cohesionless soils.
Type C Soil: Cohesive soil ≤ 0.5 tsf, granular soils, submerged soils.
